Responsible Sourcing

Huffines Wood Products LLC delivers raw wood products to the Greater Bozeman area and strives to source raw materials in a responsible manner. Materials are sourced from local tree removal companies as well as professional loggers. I, Luke Huffines, am the owner. My background in this industry consists of working for large timber management companies for 6 years in the states of Montana, California, West Virginia, Virginia, and Georgia. I attended forestry school at North Carolina State University where I learned the principals of proper timber management.

The main outlet for tree removal companies to dispose of their wood materials produced after a job is the landfill. It is cost effective and less of a headache to chip trees into mulch on site and haul the material to the dump. I have partnered with local tree removal companies to have their materials dropped off at my wood yard where I can then create a product that can be utilized for my customers and not take up space at the landfill.

The loggers who I work with are certified through the Montana Loggers Association. Without proper, professional management of timberlands, the nation's most renewable resource would be at risk. It is in everyone's best interest to be sustainable. During every timber harvest, on public or private lands, dead standing trees are removed from the landscape to help with wildfire fuels reduction and mitigate safety hazards. My company gives loggers an outlet to sell products that sawmills will not purchase for lumber production.

Responsible sourcing is one of the many ways that I use to be the best provider of raw wood materials for the Greater Bozeman Area.
